Shortsea XML
Shortsea XML is a new message standard designed to streamline the administration processes within a shortsea based logistics chain.
The standardised messages – based on XML technology – comprise the core processes of scheduling, booking, operations and invoicing. Implementing these new standards within a supply chain will help to reduce costs, cut administration, streamline process and, ultimately, improve the competitiveness of shortsea transport.

EU Project
Funded by the EU Marco Polo programme, the Shortsea XML project supports a network of shippers, carriers, ports, intermediaries and IT providers who are working together to develop the new standard. Project deliverables will include XML schemas, business requirements specifications and technical manuals. These will be available for download, free of charge, from this website as they are finalised.
